Somerville House is a day and boarding school for girls established in 1899, providing exceptional education for students from Pre-Prep through to Year 12, with a co-educational Pre-Prep offering. The Role
The Science Laboratory Technician is required to provide support and assistance to the Science Department in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the laboratories across Junior and Senior Schools.
This is a part-time term-time position. The normal hours of duty for this position are 24 hours per week to be worked during the hours of 8:00am and 4:30pm across Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during school term-time only. (There is a degree of flexibility in negotiating working days.)
It is a mandatory requirement to hold a current paid blue card and a Certificate III or higher and/or laboratory experience.
About You
- Are you an experienced laboratory assistant looking for a new dynamic and fast paced environment?
- Do you have a high level of interpersonal skills to work alongside both Junior and Senior School teachers and students?
- Do you have a genuine interest and sound knowledge on scientific principals and procedures?
- Are you able to work in a variety of laboratory tasks such as maintenance of equipment, stocktakes, preparation of laboratory spaces, and maintenance of databases?
Qualifications
- Qualifications in a relevant Scientific field (at Certificate III level or higher, and/or experience in a laboratory environment)
- Current Working with Children Paid Blue Card.
