This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of school ovals and grounds through regular mowing, watering and soil maintenance; lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers; plant, water and care for trees, shrubs, gardens; and undertake general maintenance of grounds care equipment such as mowers, brush cutters (as per manufacturers' service manuals) and arrange regular services.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels (recording in Chemwatch);
- Coordinating the removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required (does not include emptying of bins);
- Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including repairs to oval irrigation.
- Maintaining various accurate school registers and the use of computers with pre-established programs.
- Order and/or collect general grounds care/cleaning supplies as authorised;
- Prepare, mark and take general care of all outdoor sporting facilities (e.g. basketball, soccer, cricket pitches, track and field areas).
- A member of the Event Management Team setting up and pack down of school nominated events.
Our Ideal Applicant:
- Experienced in grounds maintenance, including the use of small hand tools and equipment such as ride on mowers.
- Good communication skills and the ability to liaise with staff, students and external contractors.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, particularly in grounds and facilities maintenance.
- Takes initiative in identifying and addressing grounds maintenance needs.
