About the Role
Goondi State School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Schools Officer (Grounds & Facilities) to maintain the school's exceptional grounds and facilities. Reporting to the Principal or Business Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the wider community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, watering, weeding, and caring for gardens, trees, and sporting facilities.
- Performing general maintenance tasks such as minor repairs to furniture, equipment, and facilities, as well as ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
- Assisting with the preparation of classrooms, assembly halls, and other school spaces for events and activities, including moving and arranging furniture.
- Supporting security duties, waste collection, and immediate cleaning tasks as required, while liaising with internal and external stakeholders for maintenance and repairs.
- Managing tools, equipment, and chemical registers, ensuring safe storage and handling in line with WHS guidelines.
This role would suit an organised and proactive individual with a passion for maintaining high-quality facilities and contributing to a positive school environment.
About You
The following traits would be beneficial:
- Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices and procedures.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and external stakeholders.
- Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and repair processes.
