About The Hall State School

The school is located on the south side of Rockhampton serving the suburbs of Wandal, The Range, Inner City Rockhampton, as well as students from Alton Downs and North Rockhampton. The North Street Annex forms part of the school and is used as an education conference centre. The Hall State School is well served by Child Care centres for “before and after school care”.

The Hall State School was established in 1910 as The Hall Girls' and Infants' State School on land given to the Education Department by the Hall Family (Mt Morgan Mine). In 1987, it was combined with the Boys' Leichhardt Ward State School, and established as The Hall State School.

About the Role:

You will work within a team to perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applicants must be able to perform a variety of day-to-day repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to grounds; furniture and equipment; locks and windows; and school facilities.
  • Oversee maintenance of school ovals through regular mowing, watering and soil; lawn and garden maintenance, including regular weeding and the use of appropriate insecticides and fertilisers where necessary.
  • Assist with a range of duties that include clearing and hosing of drains and gutters; collection of waste, food and paper on school grounds as agreed by relevant staff and the Principal, Business Manager; coordinating the removal and/or disposal of rubbish as required.
  • Assist with requirements for significant events such as sporting events; staff; including moving/arranging furniture and seating; removing and relocating furniture from room to room.
  • Maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels. General maintenance of grounds care equipment such as mowers & brush cutters (as per manufacturers' service manuals) and arrange regular services.
  • Support with a variety of security duties including but not limited to bank of school funds (this does not refer to the collection, receipt, or reconciliation of funds, but rather to transport and deposition of funds at the appropriate bank institution if required); posting and collection of mail; and locking and unlocking buildings (within core hours)
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.

  • General Construction Induction Training Card (or willingness to obtain one)

Mandatory requirements of this role are:

  • Open Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children (Blue Card) Check
  • Criminal History Check
