Step Into Your Next Chapter:

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain school grounds, gardens, and outdoor areas to a high standard
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs and basic handyman tasks
  • Ensure facilities are safe, clean and compliant with workplace health and safety requirements
  • Assist with set-up and pack-down for school events and activities
  • Monitor and maintain equipment, tools and maintenance schedules
  • Liaise with line managers and contractors as required
  • Proactively identify maintenance issues and report or address them promptly

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience in grounds keeping, facilities maintenance or a similar hands-on role
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards
  • Ability to work independently and also a part of a team manage and manage competing priorities
  • Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
  • Practical problem-solving skills and initiative
  • Ability to undertake physical work

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a school or education setting
  • Experience operating grounds equipment (mowers, brush cutters, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting systems
