About Moggill State School

Moggill State School is a Band 9 primary school. Established in 1866, Moggill State School has served an area that has seen growth from timber, farming, quarrying and mining to a thriving semi-rural and suburban residential area supporting a middle to upper socio-economic population. Moggill State School is located in the western suburbs of Brisbane and is part of the Metropolitan Region of Education Queensland.

About the Role

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Maintaining school grounds, including the maintenance of school ovals, grounds, gardens, regular blowing, mowing and watering.
  • Regular service and general maintenance of grounds care equipment, such as mowers, brush cutters, tractors (as per manufacture's service manuals) or arrangement for service of equipment by approved providers.
  • Moving furniture/heavy items around school and transporting classroom supplies to different locations within school.
  • Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to fences, paving, gates and irrigation.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply workplace health and safety standards including maintenance of a safe work environment and the use and storage of petrol, LP gas, insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers and other chemicals in conjunction with the use of Chemwatch.
  • You may be required to provide assistance in the maintenance of school's facilities including removal of graffiti and other minor works requirements.
  • You will have a role on the schools HS&W Committee and be required to assist in the Schools Annual Safety Assessment.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality as per the Code of Conduct for Qld Public Servants

Role Specific criteria:

  • Proven experience working with machinery, including maintenance and record keeping
  • Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of tools and equipment including school tractor
  • Demonstrated awareness of HS&W requirements
  • Knowledge or ability to gain knowledge in school contractor sign in systems and work area access permits
