About the Role

As the Schools Officer - Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in ensuring the school operates efficiently and maintains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Reporting to the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate, you will perform a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to support the school's daily operations and events.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining school ovals, gardens, and grounds, including mowing, watering, weeding, and applying fertilisers and insecticides in line with WHS guidelines.
  • Performing general maintenance tasks, such as minor repairs, furniture relocation, and upkeep of school facilities and equipment.
  • Supporting school events by preparing activity areas, assembly halls, and sporting facilities, as well as assisting with waste management and cleaning duties.
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment maintenance.
  • Carrying out security duties, such as locking/unlocking buildings and maintaining security systems.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience in groundskeeping, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, including safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills to handle diverse daily tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and external contractors.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving and task management.
