About the Role
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Responsible for a range of day-to-day activities (planned and unplanned) relating to maintenance, repairs, grounds and health and safety.
- Preparing spaces/rooms/assembly halls for examinations, activities and functions, including moving/arranging/assembling furniture and seating.
- Assist with requirements for significant events such as presentation evenings, musicals and major sporting events.
- Storing and distributing school supplies, stocks and deliveries.
- Maintaining various registers; and stocktaking and recording/engraving of school equipment/furniture and assets.
- Assist the Facilities Officer with the management of fleet vehicles - motor vehicles and buses (service, maintenance and compliance)
- Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance of grounds and facilities within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows; grounds, amenities, health and safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures).
Other favourable skills and experience:
- Demonstrated awareness of HS&W requirements
- Strong communication with ability to liaise with various internal and external personnel (e.g. tradespersons) on a variety of repair and maintenance issues
- LR Drivers Licence desirable (to assist with vehicle/fleet management)
- Willingness to undertake specific training to enhance skills as necessary
- Flexible and adaptable to change with ability work independently, think logically, show initiative and solve problems
This is a OO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the OO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the OO3 level once specific criteria have been met. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of OO2 to OO3 classification range.
Additional requirement for OO3 appointees - must have possession of a Certificate III qualification or higher relevant to the tasks outlined, from a recognised institution under the Australian Qualification Framework or agreed equivalent which, in the opinion of the Director-General, Department of Education or delegate is acceptable.
Competency at this level requires proven expertise and understanding of school facilities operations, standards and application of suitable processes.
- Capability to perform activities consistent with workplace, health and safety guidelines and procedures with regard to government facilities.
- Undertake a range of functions which may require the practical application of high level skills relevant to the role.
- Demonstrated experience to analyse requirements, identify solutions, plan and coordinate cost effective renewal projects, following documented methods and instructions.
- Sound knowledge and compliance with regulations, codes and specifications relevant to the role.
- Skillset that enables the role to undertake required procedures without intensive supervision.
