Key Responsibilities

The School Technical Officer will:

  • Provide day-to-day ICT support for staff and students, including troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues.
  • Maintain and manage school ICT assets, including device imaging, updates, repairs and asset management.
  • Support the rollout and ongoing maintenance of departmental systems, learning technologies and classroom devices.
  • Assist with AV equipment setup and operation for school events, meetings and classrooms.
  • Liaise with regional ICT staff, vendors and departmental support channels to resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure data security, user access management and adherence to departmental ICT policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to planning for future technology needs to support teaching, learning and administrative functions.

Skills and experience we want:

  • Demonstrated experience providing ICT support in an education or business environment.
  • Be in possession of a Qld Department of Education Orange Card
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows devices, networks, and common software applications.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to staff with varying levels of ICT confidence.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks in a busy school environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Understanding of departmental ICT systems and security requirements (or ability to quickly learn).

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Experience supporting iPads, interactive panels, learning technologies or classroom AV equipment.
  • Knowledge of school administration systems (e.g., OneSchool, MIS, OAMPS, SharePoint).
  • Experience with imaging tools, device deployment, and asset management systems.
  • Basic networking knowledge (Wi-Fi troubleshooting, cabling, switches).
  • Previous experience in a Queensland state school environment.
  • Relevant ICT qualifications such as Certificate III/IV or Diploma in Information Technology.
