About the Role
We have a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated School Support Officer to join the supportive and inclusive learning environment at The Assumption Catholic Primary School in Bathurst, NSW. This role supports classroom teachers in delivering high-quality instruction and care to students, including small group and individual learning support to help students reach their full potential.
The School Support Officer will actively support the Catholic mission and values of the school by:
- Promoting Christian values and participating in the religious life of the school.
- Assisting the classroom teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
- Supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development through targeted assistance.
- Contributing to the implementation of whole-school behaviour and learning support practices.
- Using a variety of strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Participating in professional learning and collaborating with teachers and school staff.
- Providing supervision and assistance during classroom, indoor, and outdoor activities.

About You (selection criteria)
We are looking for someone who can address the following selection criteria:
- A passion for education and a commitment to supporting student learning within a Catholic Primary School context.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and engage positively with students.
- Demonstrated experience working with children in an educational setting, especially in a primary school environment.
- A willingness to continue learning and developing professionally in line with best practices in education support.
- The ability to nurture student wellbeing and build trusting relationships based on patience, care, and mutual respect.
- A commitment to the ethos and mission of Catholic education and an understanding of how to support students in alignment with these values.
- Possession of a Certificate III in Education Support (or equivalent) is an advantage.
- A valid Working with Children Check.
