About the Role
As the School Support Officer, you will have responsibility for the following:
- Maintain quality in the performance of all duties, ensuring adherence to legislative and school procedures.
- Be available during school hours to monitor students regarding truancy. After school availability (if required).
- Develop a professional rapport with students through exceptional interpersonal skills and communication.
- Be present in the school grounds and escort students to class as required (including nearby park and streets if directed by Principal).
- Refer students to school support services staff and other personnel including Deputy Principals as required.
- Recording student contacts and behaviour referrals as needed to ensure appropriate record keeping.
- Assisting new students with induction to the school as required.
- In consultation with the Guidance Officers and Principal be involved in student programs under the direction of assigned staff.
- Participate in regular monitoring, through observations and evaluation, the effectiveness of programs in improving student outcomes.
- Engaging in Student Support Services Team meeting each fortnight.
- Participate in professional development sessions in areas relevant to the position and program expectations.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Set priorities and meet deadlines
- Develop and foster relationships with students
- Be part of the professional team working with the school and the community and liaise with students, teachers, guidance officers, administrative officers.
- Work independently and as a team member
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
