Location: Mixed Secondary School, Middlesbrough Start Date: January 2026 Contract: Long-term temporary, 5 days per week (hours and shifts may vary) Pay: From £12.75 per hour (PAYE)

About the Role:

Veritas Education are seeking a flexible and industrious Premises Assistant to join a busy and vibrant secondary school in Middlesbrough. You will work as part of a dedicated team alongside other assistants and the Premises Manager to ensure the school site is safe, secure, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day-to-day site maintenance and repairs.
  • Support the Premises Manager in ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Carry out routine checks and inspections across the school grounds.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Help set up rooms and facilities for school events.

    • What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, ideally on large sites such as schools, hospitals, or public grounds (school experience advantageous)
  • Ability to use initiative, demonstrate attention to detail, and take pride in your work.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
  • Driving licence preferred (many caretakers act as key holders).
  • Health & Safety trained (knowledge of fire safety, COSHH and risk assessments)
  • DBS on the Update Service required (we can support with a new application if needed).
