About the Team:

The School Facilities Operations Team works collaboratively to deliver support and advisory services to Principals and Business Managers to manage school facilities operations.
The Team interacts with Organisational Safety & and Well-being to promote safe practices aligned with the department's current chemical management requirements and safe equipment use. School Facilities Operations also provides support to Procurement, Corporate Finance, Payroll, and Human Resources. The Team is committed to excellence in service.

About the Opportunity:

As the School Facilities Operations Advisor, you will identify and provide advice to state schools to:

  • Implement and develop consistent hygiene standards and best practice cleaning methodologies in state schools;
  • Implement more sustainable approaches to managing facilities/grounds and cleaning services;
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and the use of technology in service delivery and management; and
  • Build public confidence in the servicing of state schools' operations to maintain health & and safety standards

About the Role:

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and advising state schools on evidence-based strategies to develop consistent hygiene standards.
  • Providing advice to schools on all issues associated with equipment, chemicals, and consumable items.
  • Facilitating the delivery and scheduling of training, assisting with the development of programs for school-based facilities staff including Cleaners and Schools Officers, Grounds and Facilities about the department's Health, Safety, and Wellness policies and procedures. This will include, but not be limited to: Technical Induction Programs; and Mandatory Training.
  • Undertake site visits to capture and maintain site measurement data for state schools within the region or review site cleaning standards and provide written recommendations using iAuditor.

  • In-depth knowledge of school facilities operations and management.
  • Proven experience in training delivery, both in-person and online.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for effective networking with school and corporate staff.
  • Demonstrated skill in scheduling and meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities for addressing facilities and training-related issues.
  • Proficiency in project management to oversee various tasks and responsibilities.
  • Adaptability to stay current with evolving facilities management and training trends.
  • Leadership qualities to guide a team toward achieving objectives.
  • Technical proficiency with relevant software and tools used in facilities and training management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
  • Understanding of current Department of Education systems.
  • Sound familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capability to undertake overnight travel, which may involve air travel, and possess a valid driver's license.
