About the Partnership Initiative Project:
This role is to support the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence Strategy through the Partnership Initiative project piloting the delivery of tailored and differentiated support to 42 regional, rural and remote Queensland schools. The pilot will be rolled out over three years and may establish parameters and requirements for longer-term support to deliver effective responses to community challenges and opportunities.
The objective of the initiative is to enable participating schools to collaborate with community partners and government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies.
The initiative supports the involvement of First Nations communities in decision making to lift learning and life outcomes for young indigenous Australians.
About the Western Cape College:
The Western Cape College is a unique state school with two campuses located in Mapoon (P-6), and Weipa (P-12), as well as a secondary residential facility also located in Weipa. Each Campus is set in its own amazing cultural, social and geographical environment, spread over a vast area of the Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland.
As the largest P-12 school in the Cape, we have an important role to play in supporting and continuing to lead innovative practices with Indigenous and Remote Education.

About the Role:
The School Community Partnership Facilitator will play a vital role in influencing a place-based approach in the College and community by collaborating with key partners and across government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies to College and community challenges.
Your expertise in community engagement, coupled with your network of connections, will empower you to deliver transformative support that addresses attendance, engagement, and learning challenges, ultimately leading to improved educational outcomes for students.
In addition to the duties outlined in the generic role description, as the School Community Partnership Facilitator (identified), your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement to support community co-design that meet the needs of the College and community leaders through the Mapoon and Napranum Local Community Education Boards Agreements
- Establish and manage key relationships to enhance planning and service delivery processes including making decisions that are aligned to the Western Cape -Coordinated Care for Vulnerable Young People review and recommendations.
About You:
You are a strong communicator with great time management as sometimes you will need to work as a team and sometimes on your own.
You will also be a person who is able to:
- Work closely with other agencies, community groups, parents and your school
- Use past experience in co-design approaches when working with the school and community
- Likes using data (such as truancy or absentee) and use this to inform strategies
- Make a difference
