We are seeking a Workplace Health and Safety (WHSO) School Officer to work closely with the principal and school community to undertake a range of WHS related tasks and duties.

Key functions of the WHSO include:

  • Providing advice on the implementation of WHSMS policies and procedures within the school,
  • Implementing communication and consultation initiatives and awareness of WHS requirements,
  • Assisting in the investigation of WHS issues or incidents for the school,
  • Assisting in the development and review of WHS Management System requirements and associated documentation for the school,
  • Consulting with management and stakeholders on their schools WHS performance,
  • Assist in the identification and management of risk,
  • Assist in health and safety consultation activities,
  • Conduct and assist workers to conduct regular health and safety inspections and risk assessments, and
  • Investigate health and safety incidents and dangerous events to prevent recurrence,
The successful applicant will hold/have/or be prepared to obtain:
  • Senior First Aid Certificate,
  • Strong IT skills and experience, and
  • Certificate IV Workplace Health and Safety Certificate.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills with:
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Safe work practices,
  • BCE systems such as guardian and compliance data base, and
  • Effective management of safety processes and efficient record keeping.


To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement;
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.
