The Risk and compliance Officer is responsible for supporting the Principal to embed and maintain the school's risk and compliance systems, practices, and procedures to ensure that it complies with current legal and regulatory obligations and aligns with BCE system requirements.
This role works closely with the Principal in support of embedding the first line of defence, identifying opportunities to adapt system processes to the context of the school, and influences stakeholders to implement improved school operations. This role also maintains strong connections to system stakeholders to identify and implement requirements in schools.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Proactively role model service delivery and expectations by understanding, embedding and maintaining policies and procedures
  • Promote a strong culture of risk and compliance awareness and management across the school and provide learning opportunities to support the capability of our staff to manage risks.
  • Advise School Leadership of relevant changes to regulations, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver and advise staff, students and the school community on policy updates and publish via appropriate channels.
  • Facilitate the completion and report on risk and compliance tasks through the appropriate avenues.
  • Facilitate/support the maintenance of organisational registers.
  • Advise and facilitate the conduct of risk assessment by responsible staff members for school events.

Essential Skills and Experience:


  • Excellent organisational, time-management and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong work ethic.

The successful candidate will possess:
  • A proven track record in managing risk and compliance, with a focus on sustainability and operational improvement.
  • An ability to manage multiple tasks to achieve both project and operational outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of building, equipment and vehicle maintenance and safety regulations.
  • IT skills in conjunction with knowledge of systems.
  • Relevant Qualifications & Certifications
