About the Department of Education:

The Department of Education (DoE) sets the foundations for quality early learning experiences and delivers world class education services.  The department also hosts the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority which is responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services.

The Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (ECRA) is recruiting for a Talent Pool for Regulatory Officers to fill current and future temporary and permanent vacancies within the next 12 months, across the 8 regions in Queensland. This is the third time the ECRA has conducted a recruitment process for the Senior Regulatory Officer Talent Pool and previous successful applicants remain current in the pool until they are offered a permanent position in their chosen regional office or 12 months passes.

Your Opportunity:

  • Support the Early Childhood Regulatory Authority by consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Regional Offices, Central Office Teams and ECEC providers and services to achieve regulatory outcomes.

Your Role

Responsibilities include:

  • Consistently and fairly applying relevant early childhood education and care (ECEC) legislation, standards, policies and guidelines in the regulation of the ECEC sector within the context of the Regulating for Quality policy.  This may be carried out through monitoring, investigations and assessment of applications and notifications, as required.
  • Conduct assessment and rating of education and care services across Queensland.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Regional Offices, and ECEC providers and services to achieve regulatory outcomes.

About You:

The successful applicant will have the following qualities:

  • Experience as a regulator or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulating the ECEC sector;
  • Experience in conducting assessment and rating or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge and complete training in conducting assessment and rating;
  • Ability to analyse evidence and create analysis;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to prioritise and complete projects and tasks efficiently;
  • Decision-making skills;
  • Ability to manage risk and prioritise the work; and
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of different stakeholders.
