About this job

As part of the Student Wellbeing program, we aim to ensure every Queensland primary and secondary state school student has access to a wellbeing professional at school. The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing program work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance the wellbeing and mental health support available to students.

Queensland state schools offer a unique and rewarding setting where you can enjoy flexible, family-friendly work schedules while being part of our growing workforce of experienced wellbeing professionals.

We are currently recruiting for graduate and experienced professionals in the following fields:

  • Psychologists - use their professional knowledge of psychological interventions and treatments to deliver appropriate and tailored therapeutic intervention to support students' mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • Social workers - work with students to support their personal and social wellbeing by identifying issues that require change and connecting students and their families with support. Using a strengths-based approach, social workers apply evidence-based interventions through personal and family counselling, therapeutic support and group work.

As the Psychologist, you will:

  • Provide professional support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for the enhancement of all students' learning.
  • Provide services such as counselling, assessment and intervention, focusing on students' mental health and wellbeing.

As the Social Worker, you will:

  • Operate in an advisory and advocacy capacity providing services specific to the social work discipline.
  • Respond to the needs of the student population and school community to provide personal and family counselling, therapy and group work, facilitation of referrals to other allied health professionals, and service and care coordination for the purpose of assisting student's wellbeing and mental health.
