About Queensland Academy for Science, Mathematics and Technology:
QASMT is a selective entry school, located within four kilometres of Brisbane City centre. The Academy opened in January 2007 and works in partnership with a range of universities, including the University of Queensland, in nurturing highly capable students in achieving their potential as future leaders in a science specialist school environment. QASMT is seeking a dedicated and highly organised Project Officer Student Attendance who will ensuring the continuous engagement and success of our students by managing and monitoring attendance systems, providing support for students with attendance barriers, and working closely with school staff, students and families.
About the Role:
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Project Management: Take a hands-on approach in managing all daily operations related to student attendance. You will be directly responsible for overseeing attendance tracking, data management, and ensuring the smooth running of related processes.
- Project and Organisational Change Activities: Participate in and undertake designated project activities, including contributing to organisational change initiatives as they relate to student attendance and engagement.
- Operational Problem-Solving: Resolve operational issues related to student attendance and assist in the development and implementation of policies, processes, and systems that ensure the effective and efficient administration of the project.
- Report Preparation: Prepare reports and submissions on various project services, attendance trends, and related matters, responding to issues identified during the review process.
- Daily Attendance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Generate daily reports on absenteeism and send SMS notifications to parents/carers.
- Advise and follow up with teachers on absenteeism and document relevant information in both Excel, Daymap, Accelerus and OneSchool.
- Student Attendance Database Management: Maintain a comprehensive database tracking independent student, those in care or under child safety orders, and students with legal orders or other issues impacting their attendance.
- Early Intervention and Support:
- Monitor attendance to identify emerging problems and facilitate early intervention.
- Provide advice and information to assist teachers in managing non-attendance and prevent issues from escalating.
- Administrative and Logistical Support:
- Provide administrative assistance, including support at the student counter.
- Provide first aid for students when required.
- Collaboration and Review: Attend meetings with school leaders and staff to discuss, evaluate, and review attendance systems and procedures, contributing to ongoing improvements and best practices.
Experience and Skills:
- The ideal candidate should have experience in managing and overseeing daily student attendance operations, preferably within a school environment. Strong communication, problem-solving, organisational, technical, collaboration, and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this role.
