Students at St. John the Apostle Primary School are surrounded by families and staff who nurture and challenge them to grow. Our community continually seeks ways to support families and students on their journey through primary school.

The school serves the suburbs of Florey, Latham, Holt, Higgins, MacGregor, Belconnen, MacNamara and Strathnairn. 

The Principal leads a team of 32 employees and a student cohort of 361*.

CECG is looking for a Principal who will actively engage with the community and grow school enrolments under their leadership.

Essential Criteria

  1. Practising Catholic with a demonstrated commitment to Catholic education and an understanding of the leadership role in Catholic education
  2. Possess academic qualifications additional to initial teacher education (Master’s degree or five-year equivalent)
  3. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of curriculum, assessment and student welfare issues, including child protection
  4. experience in leading inclusive teaching and learning communities
  5. Demonstrated capacity to make data-informed decisions to inform teaching and learning
  6. Demonstrated ability to integrate the use of information and communication technologies to both engage students in their learning and prepare them for an increasingly technological society
  7. Demonstrated experience in building teacher capacity and managing the performance of individuals and teams
  8. Demonstrated capacity to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to improve teaching and learning
  9. strong interpersonal skills and effective change agent with the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, including parents, other systemic principals, Catholic Education personnel and external stakeholders
  10. Demonstrated ability to meet the five leadership practices of our Leadership Framework.
  11. Be accredited, or willing to undergo accreditation, to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
