The Director of Boarding is responsible for a safe, vibrant and inclusive residential environment where all, students and staff, are known, respected, encouraged and afforded every opportunity to achieve their personal best. The Director ensures a residential programme that is enriching, adheres to all relevant internal policies and external legislative or regulatory frameworks, and surpasses compliance practices and expectations.
Leading by example, the Director of Boarding actively mentors and effectively leads a team to develop, implement and review the operation, risk management, and continuous improvement of a boarding programme that is evidencebased, draws from industry best practice and is co-created with engagement from relevant stakeholders including students, alumni, parents, and staff.
The successful candidate has demonstrable experience being a:
■ Relational and confident leader whose stewardship fosters a thriving community, nurturing positive relationships, building networks and leveraging optimal partnerships with stakeholders
■ Inspiring educator who role-models, mentors and leads excellence in values, wellbeing pedagogy, teaching strategies and professional learning; both within the boarding programme and the residential living industry more broadly
■ Skilled executive with the acumen and expertise to set the benchmark in good governance by positively influencing the design, implementation and renewal of boarding policies, processes, protocols, systems, services, and infrastructure
■ Practised administrator and effective communicator who is operationally highly adept, simultaneously managing competing needs, addressing multiple priorities and navigating diverse complex issues while mitigating risk and respecting privacy at all times.
The position, which reports into the Vice Principal, Head of Senior School, is responsible for 160 boarding students and is the line manager of several staff. This role attracts a highly competitive remuneration package (including accommodation onsite for a family and added benefits) and is offered as an ongoing teaching position with a six-year contract for the promotional role starting early January 2025 (or as negotiated). Applicants must be VIT registered teachers.
