About the role:

As the Principal Project Officer, you will: 

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives focused on a range of products, services and activities within the scope of the project to meet departmental goals.
  • Provide strategic policy and proactive planning advice on specific issues relating to the various projects and initiatives being undertaken by the unit.

Responsibilities include:

  • contribute to the design, planning and implementation of evidence-informed strategies, innovations and projects.
  • utilise program management methodologies, including policy analysis, contract and budget management to ensure efficient execution of initiatives.
  • lead research, development and assessment of strategic issues and initiatives and provide advice on policy development, operational planning and practice to the Manager, Director and senior leadership.
  • facilitate consultation and engage key stakeholders to align program objectives with community and school needs.
  • create high-quality information documents for dissemination and publication to a wide cross section of stakeholders.

Our ideal applicant will possess:

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with experience contributing to the development of policy papers, briefings, reports and submissions in an environment of tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Ability to research, analyse and synthesise complex information, collect data and monitor and evaluate the success of strategic and program initiatives.
  • Flexibility to work across projects and support the work of multiple programs.
