42 Queensland state schools in the most disadvantaged, complex communities will receive a specialised system response that supports them to collaborate with partners and across government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies to benefit students and their communities.

Schools participating in the Partnership Initiative collaborate with key educational partners and other government agencies to deliver locally responsive and integrated strategies that respond to the contextual factors impacting educational outcomes for children and young people.

Partnership Initiative has 3 Local Support teams across various locations across Queensland to support the initiative.

The Principal Project Officer reports to the Manager, Local Support Team,  based in Cairns.

Duties of this role include:

  • Providing project management and developing processes and support materials to support the implementation of the Partnership Initiative
  • Supporting community liaison and/or providing information on programs, activities or services including supporting integrated and cross sector partnerships approaches
  • Using data purposefully and ethically to evaluate or monitor the progress  and impact of the project at school, community and program level;
  • Preparing Partnership Initiative representations to the Minister, responses to Parliamentary Questions, preparing reports to government, preparing departmental briefing notes and correspondence;
  • Ensuring effective communication, integration, coordination and liaison occurs within State Schools Division (including regions), across the department, and with other government bodies and community organisations. This includes supporting schools in direct response to feedback from principals and school supervisors;
  • Undertaking research and analysis of contemporary issues relevant to place-based approaches, collective impact and culturally responsive approaches to schooling in complex communities;
  • Document Partnership Initiative learnings to support consistent processes across schools participating in the Initiative.
