About the Role:

An exciting opportunity exists to join Curriculum, Teaching and Learning's Literacy, Numeracy, Early Years Languages and Global Engagement (LNEYLGE) team. We are seeking two enthusiastic Principal Project Officers with current P-6 or 7-10 teaching experience and/or Certificate II vocational education and training qualifications to develop, lead and undertake a range of projects specifically related to key Curriculum, Teaching and Learning initiatives to ensure students' continued engagement in learning.

The successful applicants will have a deep understanding of the Australian Curriculum, the QCAA Literacy and Numeracy Short Courses, expert knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring, and an understanding of the Department's key literacy and numeracy monitoring tools.

As Principal Project Officer, LNEYLGC, you will:

  • provide high level strategic advice to senior management and clients that supports the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and student engagement in learning;
  • scope and develop a range of resources to support key literacy, numeracy and vocational education and training initiatives;
  • undertake research and consultation with a diverse range of stakeholders to inform the development of support materials and resources and ensure alignment to Departmental policy;
  • contribute to briefing materials, submissions, papers, reports, communications and correspondence
  • develop and undertake projects guided by the Education Strategy Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student; and
  • liaise with and build positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

About You: 

The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:

  • deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (v8.4 and v9) and contemporary curriculum, assessment and pedagogical practices;
  • knowledge of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Literacy and Numeracy Short Courses;
  • knowledge and experience in creating and delivering vocational education and training resources;
  • deep knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring;
  • an understanding of the Department's key literacy, numeracy and early years initiatives; including P-10 Literacy continuum and P-10 Numeracy continuum;
  • an understanding of and experience implementing effective practices to engage students in learning; 
  • proven ability to manage complex projects and achieve required outcomes within set timeframes;
  • capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders; and
  • high level written and oral communication skills.
