About the Role: 

As the Principal Program Officer you will:

  • Lead the development of a suite of early childhood initiatives and resources supporting effective practices to optimise learning and development outcomes for children across early childhood education and care (ECEC) settings and the early years of school.
  • Contribute to the development and management of strategic early childhood initiatives to increase the capacity of schools, early childhood services, and communities to support successful transitions and enhance continuity of learning and development for children.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead planning, consultation and development processes targeting the development of practical resources for early childhood services and the community.
  • Prepare reports, submissions, briefs and correspondence associated with priority projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor the implementation of early childhood specific initiatives and determine and develop professional resources to support sustained implementation.
  • Develop project plans, including risk management strategies and key performance measures.
  • Implement effective project management strategies to ensure outcomes are delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain effective linkages with:
    • Schools and ECEC services as they implement ECEC specific initiatives
    • Other departments and non-government organisations to identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and information sharing to support implementation of ECEC priority initiatives.
