As Principal Policy Officer, Student Wellbeing, you will:

  • Manage, incoming and outgoing correspondence and requests from within the department, other government agencies, key stakeholders and general public.
  • Draft and edit briefing materials, cabinet submissions, responses to ministerial or departmental correspondence, policy or research papers.
  • Provide input on departmental or government reporting on issues related to the student wellbeing portfolio.
  • Assist with the recruitment, procurement and contract management related to service providers.
  • Collect, manage, and report on datasets across multiple platforms to support evaluation and review of projects.
  • Assist with budget processes, including facilitation of appropriation payments and paying invoices.
  • Cultivate effective relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.

About You

Applicant's key attributes:

  • Exceptional writing skills, critical analysis and ability to manage the preparation of correspondence and requests.
  • Proven ability to achieve high levels of productivity autonomously, in complex, sensitive or high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to provide high-level advice and support to senior officers of the department and schools regarding the development of programs and initiatives to support student wellbeing.
  • Exceptional written and interpersonal communication, with an ability to consult and negotiate persuasively on strategic policy issues and facilitate stakeholder meetings and briefings to senior management.
  • Skills and experience relevant to financial processes and data management are highly desirable.
