About the Role:
Governance, Strategy and Planning (GSP) undertakes a range of enterprise activities to support the department to meet its strategic objectives and operational requirements, and delivers services and products to support frontline and corporate staff to effectively and confidently perform their duties.

Be part of a small, passionate team working at an enterprise and strategic level to drive continuous improvement in human rights and customer complaints to support effective decision-making across our diverse organisation. An exciting role is available to mature departmental approaches to human rights and customer complaints management at an enterprise level to support staff in schools, regions and divisions.
As the Principal Policy Officer you will focus on maturing the Department's approach to human rights, including supporting staff in schools, regions and divisions to build human rights awareness and capability, and enhance our human rights culture; and maturing customer complaints management approaches at an enterprise level to develop and embed better practice approaches across the Department.
This includes:
- Developing and delivering tailored complaints and human rights resources and training to build capability in frontline and corporate areas
- Providing support and advice to business areas managing customer complaints or making decisions that impact human rights
- Analysing data to identify trends and insights and support the department to meet its reporting requirements for customer complaints and human rights
- Working collaboratively to drive continuous improvement across the department, including supporting process and practice change
- Contributing to whole-of-government reform activities related to complaints management and human rights

We are looking for a Principal Policy Officer who has the following attributes:
- Critical and strategic thinker, who can research and analyse issues, translate complex information into clear and user-friendly products, and make informed recommendations to management
- Excellent people skills and a commitment to customer service
- Exceptional writers and communicators who are great at stakeholder engagement and negotiation
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation, coordination and project management skills
- Data and analytical experience to identify trends and insights and support corporate reporting
- Self-starters who can work independently, but also collaboratively as part of a team
- A drive to continuously improve and innovate to deliver better outcomes and meet strategic objectives
- Capability development skills to support the department to mature its approaches
