Your Role

As the Principal Policy Officer you will:

  • Undertake research, scanning and synthesise complex concepts to inform the development of clear, user-friendly strategies and frameworks that set the vision for education;
  • Lead and develop significant initiatives, high-level briefings, reports and submissions, and make evidence informed recommendations to senior leaders on issues related to educational policy at the strategic, tactical and operational level;
  • Maintain a strong client focus by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with departmental business units and stakeholders;
  • Negotiate effectively with stakeholders, in the context of supporting the department's objectives and desired outcomes.

About You

You will have the following attributes:

  • Critical and strategic thinker, who can research and analyse issues, translate complex information into clear and user-friendly products, and make informed recommendations to management;
  • Excellent people skills and a commitment to customer service;
  • Exceptional writer and communicator who is great at stakeholder engagement and negotiation;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisation, coordination and project management skills;
  • Self-starter who can work independently, but also collaboratively as part of a team;
  • A drive to continuously improve and innovate to deliver better outcomes and meet strategic objectives; and
  • Capability development skills to support the department to mature its approaches.
