A key part of the branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.

The EFI provides high quality, targeted professional learning for staff located in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote locations across the state. The EFI empowers staff with the skills, knowledge and capability to excel in their role.

The EFI is a key system initiative in the department's education strategy, Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student.

Your Role

This Principal Officer (Data and Systems) provides essential technical support, data management and systems implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert advice and insights through enhanced data, analytics services and reporting to improve workforce capability development effectiveness in accordance with departmental policies and standards.
  • Analyse business requirements and implement improvements to capability development data and information management.
  • Contribute to uplifting branch data and analytical capabilities and processes to support data-informed and insights-driven capability development.
  • Manage data and information assets, interpreting and visualising data to identify trends and patterns to solve business problems and translating findings.
  • Prepare, update and maintain various program and project artefacts including reporting.

The ideal applicant is someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience using business intelligence and Microsoft Office applications in the extraction and manipulation of data across information systems.
  • Highly developed system and data analysis experience in the collation and presentation of data to provide clear reporting and insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Ability in analytical problem solving, statistical gathering techniques, performance analysis methodologies, report development and critical analysis and evaluation skills.
  • Experience leading business process modelling activities for large scale complex organisations and the ability to provide expert advice on the application of appropriate business analysis techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Effective communication skills and working relationships with a wide variety stakeholders.
  • While not mandatory, a relevant qualification and one or more of below skills would be well regarded.
  • Knowledge of:
    • learning, human resource and event management systems
    • capability development process and relevant data flow and standards
    • software development and system integration/implementation cycle
  • Solid knowledge of information management and privacy requirements and SQL Database structure and development
