Established in 2001, Macleay Vocational College provides a specialised educational experience for students who have a high level of educational and social disadvantage. Located in Kempsey and standing on Dunghutti Country, Macleay Vocational College is a Special Assistance School for Years 9-12 where students experience a flexible learning environment that supports them to re-engage with education and future pathways beyond school. The College specialises in educating the whole person and provides a blended education model which allows students to complete their HSC, undertake Vocational Education and Training, and explore employment pathways. Macleay Vocational College provides a supportive and flexible environment where students can develop a sense of belonging, pride, personal identity and cultural awareness.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader of people, a dynamic and inspiring educator, with strong values and beliefs, ready to lead the College into the next phase of development. As Principal, you will be a highly motivated, visible and relational leader with a keen sense of humour, commitment to the values and mission of the College, and the acumen required to successfully run a diverse organisation. Additionally, you will possess understanding of trauma informed practice and bring respect and awareness of indigenous culture.
 
The successful candidate will have:
 
■ Experience in modern blended educational models including agile and inclusive curriculum and vocational courses, and understanding of current trends for a future-focused education
■ Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to inspire and motivate staff and students, and build and maintain relationships in a complex, multi stakeholder environment
■ Ability to manage high-level and complex wellbeing matters, with experience in trauma informed educational practice and the engagement of relevant community support services
■ Advanced skills in change management, crisis management and conflict resolution
■ Executive level leadership in all aspects of school operations including finances, risk, facilities, resources, people management and marketing NSW teacher registration is essential – additional relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
