About the Role
MacKillop College in Bathurst is seeking a dedicated Catholic Principal to lead our vibrant educational community. As the educational leader of our school, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students and nurturing a positive learning environment. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Religious Leadership: Embody the Catholic faith and values, providing formation for staff and students and fostering an environment that promotes faith formation and values-based education.
  2. Educational Excellence: Set high expectations for student and staff performance, ensuring a commitment to academic excellence, growth, and achievement for all members of the school community.
  3. Professional Development: Ensure opportunities for the learning and growth of teachers and staff, promoting continuous professional development and growth.
  4. Relational Trust: Promote an atmosphere of mutual respect and positive, professional, and caring relationships among students, parents, teachers, and staff.
  5. Equity and Sustainability: Prioritise equity and sustainability in the allocation of resources, building a high-performing school consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  6. Leadership Accountability: Report to the Executive Director of Schools and uphold the vision and mission of Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst through Religious, Educational, and Enabling Leadership.

As the Principal Leader of MacKillop College, you will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment that aligns with the principles of Catholic education. Through your religious, educational, and enabling leadership, you will help guide our school in fulfilling its mission of providing a holistic education that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit of each student.


Selection Criteria:

  • A committed and practising Catholic who can articulate and promote a deep understanding of the mission of Catholic education.
  • Has built a career in secondary school education with significant leadership experience at Assistant Principal level or higher.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead a contemporary professional learning community committed to whole school improvement and transformation.
  • A strong, contemporary leader of learning, with the capacity to lead change and demonstrate contemporary pedagogy that focuses on improving student learning.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead teacher performance in a standards environment,to coach and mentor staff and to build capacity.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead strategic change through consultation and collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Models lifelong learning and the ability to seek feedback and reflect on personal effectiveness.
  • Holds appropriate post graduate qualifications (eg in Education, Religious Education, Theology, Leadership).
  • Is accredited, or qualified to be accredited, for Senior Leadership in a Catholic Schools (Category E), CEDB Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools or willing to obtain the necessary qualifications during the first contract period.
