Position Information

Moorebank High School is a partially selective and comprehensive high school in the Chipping Norton Principal Network. The school serves nearly 1,000 students, with 1% identifying as indigenous and 82% from a language background other than English. A diverse learning unit includes three autism classes. The school is committed to extending student potential through excellence in teaching and learning, as well as through collaboration with partner primary schools. 

Priorities include student growth and attainment, effective classroom practices and community excellence. These are supported through innovations in areas such as whole-school student engagement programs, the arts, quality mentoring, enhanced student leadership and opportunities for student voice. There is an emerging focus on building student resilience through the principles of Positive Relationships, Positive Outcomes (PRPO).

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high-quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria:

A. Ability to develop a long-term vision and cohesive plan for Moorebank High School as a visible leader that promotes a high expectations culture for the school and community. 

B. Capacity to lead the implementation of the department’s High Potential and Gifted Education Policy in the context of a partially selective and comprehensive school. 

C. Demonstrated leadership skills to engage with parents, the wider community and partner primary schools to improve transitions and enhance community confidence. 

D. Proven experience in building staff capacity to implement explicit teaching strategies in a consistent and schoolwide manner to lift student outcomes.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P4 for 2025.
