Position Information
Tumut High School is a rural high school with a student population of 420, of whom 20% identify as Aboriginal. In addition, the school has a Learning and Support Faculty with a Head Teacher and three support classes. Tumut High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative and sporting success, with skilled teachers that have a broad range of experiences, who value academic excellence and strive to provide support for all student learning styles and abilities. The school engages with Aboriginal students and families to develop Personalised Learning Pathways (PLPs). Aboriginal students are supported through the Clontarf Academy and Stars Foundation to support Aboriginal students in school engagement, community access and post-school pathways. The school engages regularly with the local AECG to share school decision making, planning and resource allocation.
The school has a well-established 'Wellbeing Hub' which serves to support students and families to access additional support from the school and through external community and agencies. A School Chaplain, School Support Officer take advantage of this facility in delivering the services for which they are responsible.
There is a strong partnership with Tumut TAFE, who support student alternate pathways and provides school-based apprenticeship courses. The school also supports a strong transition program to both TAFE and universities for students. Tumut High School invests in community involvement and has an parent body who support school direction and provide feedback on planning and implementation.

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Demonstrated capacity to lead evidence-informed wellbeing initiatives for all students to succeed in learning, transition points and post school pathways
Demonstrated capacity to develop authentic relationships with the whole school community through a visible and collaborative leadership style that ensures a positive school culture that is valued and trusted within the community
Proven ability to drive high expectation for our diverse range of students with a focus on curriculum, explicit teaching, differentiation and high potential
Demonstrated capacity to promote the school in the wider community to drive student enrolment, engagement and attendance

Classification Structure for Principals:
The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. Please refer to the information regarding the Classification Structure for Principals.
The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2024 and also for 2025.
