Position Information
Eastwood Heights Public School is located in the northern suburbs of Sydney. The school has an enrolment of 421 students and takes pride in its richly diverse school community. Students from language backgrounds other than English form 62% of the school population with over 36 cultural groups represented and the main language groups being Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and Arabic. There are four students from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background. The school has a reputation in the community for being a welcoming school which provides strong academic programs balanced with an important emphasis on student wellbeing. The school prides itself on having students be safe and responsible learners. Eastwood Heights Public School actively promotes education as a collaborative process and partners closely with parents and carers, students and the wider school community. Parents and carers participate in the school through the Parents' and Citizens' Association and its subcommittees.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Ability to be a highly visible, approachable leader with exemplary interpersonal skills and the proven capacity to work collaboratively to form positive, productive relationships with all community members so the educational and wellbeing outcomes of all students are prioritised. Capacity to lead staff through continuous improvement and positive educational change, including the enhancement of professional learning, and development of early career and experienced teachers. Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to genuinely engage, maintain and support existing strong partnerships with students, staff, parents/carers and the wider community to enhance student and whole school wellbeing to ensure the entire school community is known, valued and cared for.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P2 for 2025 and Principal Level P2 for 2026.
