About this job

Position Information

Bondi Public School has an enrolment of 420 students, with 5% of students from an EAL/D background, and 1.4% from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. The school is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney on Bidjigal and Gadigal Aboriginal lands. It has a Family and Occupational Educational Index (FOEI) of 10. Highly invested parents/carers and passionate staff hold high expectations within a diverse and inclusive community.

Bondi Public School fosters a culture of academic excellence, individual student growth and the development of critical thinkers. The school values learning across the range of curricula and co-curricular domains, nurturing the intrinsic motivation that supports curious minds. There are many high potential and gifted students who are strongly supported through individual and differentiated classroom environments. Teachers track their students’ individual capacities and set learning outcomes accordingly. Achievement is based on the evidence supported principles of explicit teaching and student engagement.

The school community celebrates success in literacy and numeracy and extends student learning through specialist-led programs in STEAM and the creative arts. Wellbeing is understood to be indivisible from optimum learning and the shared values that underpin the development of individual character and resilience. A dedicated Learning Support Team works closely with teachers and families to ensure equitable outcomes. The Positive Behaviour for Learning framework guides students to take ownership of their learning and build the skills of engaged and mutually supportive citizens.

The long established Stephanie Alexander Garden program is integrated into the curriculum and is valued by the community.  The program highlights the importance of fresh produce and healthy eating, enabling activities to cross multiple areas of the curriculum in real world learning experiences. Co-curricular learning includes chess, hip-hop, French, visual arts and Code Camp.
