Position Information

Wentworth Public School is situated at the junction of the Murray and Darling Rivers in the Sunraysia region of Far West NSW. Wentworth Public School's student enrolment is 102, with 43% of the students identifying as Aboriginal. The students benefit from a wonderful range of activities that focus on individual needs and interests. The school has a very strong focus on evidenced-based literacy and numeracy achievement of students through a personalised learning approach. The school has a well-established kitchen garden program and wellbeing is underpinned by our school values of Respect, Safety and Persistence. The school has strong partnerships with local schools in the Sunraysia and with the local pre–school. Wentworth Public School has a range of beginning and experienced staff. The school has a strong connection with the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) and values community input into all aspects of the school.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated ability to be collaborative, approachable, and visible leader with outstanding personal and interpersonal skills that build effective relationships with students, staff and parents/carers.
  • Highly effective educational leadership skills with a proven ability to foster a culture of high expectations and model instructional leadership, explicit teaching and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to professionally develop staff of varying experience levels to differentiate for a diverse range of students with varied learning needs.
  • A demonstrated commitment to enhancing and building strong partnerships with parents/ carers, community members including the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
      Conditions
      An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

       Classification Structure for Principals:

      The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. Please refer to the information regarding the Classification Structure for Principals.

       

      The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2024.
