Position Information
Mendooran Central School is a member of the Mudgee Principal Network and is situated 75 km from Dubbo and 119 km from Mudgee. Mendooran Central School is an innovative, rural central school serving a diverse community with enrolments of 85 students (of which 38% identify as Aboriginal) from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school draws its students from the immediate township and the surrounding area. The school provides a quality K-12 education in an inclusive and supportive environment. Mendooran Central School provides staff and students with updated technology to ensure a collaborative, dynamic and up-to-date learning environment. Staff focus on developing individual and collective commitments to learning with each and every student being encouraged to strive for excellence.
The school ensures that every student learns, grows and belongs in an equitable and inclusive and motivated manner. Students have access to a range of training providers to ensure the broadest and most relevant curriculum possible. The school is well supported by the P&C and maintains partnerships with the local preschool and wider community

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

A highly approachable, visible and strategic leader who builds staff capacity, cohesion and collective responsibility to lead improvement, innovation and change through the implementation of effective systems, processes and practices that are focused on school improvement and the achievement of the NSW Department of Education priorities and the School Excellence Plan.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
