Position Information
Grenfell Public School is a K-6 school located on Wiradjuri country with a current enrolment of approximately 168 students. There are 10% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school embodies the values of 'respectful, responsible and resilient learners' and partners with the whole school community in the pursuit of instilling these values.
There is an active Student Representative Council. Students participate in extracurricular activities including marimbas, debating, public speaking and sporting activities locally and at representative levels. There is a strong commitment to local cultural and sporting events with a focus on delivering quality education and developing the individual talents, interests and abilities of all students.
Students and staff enjoy well-resourced classrooms offering programs such as STEM and Kitchen/Garden. The active Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) supports school programs and the school has strong connections with local groups such as the Lions club.
Grenfell Public School focusses on explicit teaching, assessment, curriculum planning, and data analysis particularly in Reading and Numeracy.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria;
- Demonstrated outstanding instructional leadership to drive student growth and achievement in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching, evidence-based strategies, deep knowledge of students and curriculum, and high expectations for all learners.
- Outstanding educational leadership skills, with a demonstrated capacity to lead, support and inspire staff in a rural school setting to build a positive culture focused on enhancing staff wellbeing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and implement evidence-based wellbeing strategies that create a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where every student is known, valued, and able to thrive.
- Demonstrated capacity to foster distributive leadership, build strong teams and implement initiatives, with a focus on consultative and collaborative practice for whole school improvement and connections across the network.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
