About Valkyrie State School

Valkyrie State School is a small school which operates as the hub of the local community. The school utilises the P-6 Curriculum Planning Model in conjunction with the Brigalow Cluster Schools. Within the K-2 years age appropriate pedagogies is also implemented, which links the early years program, fostering the love of learning through play. As Valkyrie State School has a Kindergarten, the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines are followed.

The school has a general area/classroom, a computer lab, a new library and undercover outdoor play areas. Valkyrie State School P&C Association encourages parents/guardians to join in a variety of fund-raising activities throughout the school year, including a Mini Olympics Fund Day and Christmas Concert.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Uphold the principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
