About the Department of Education

The Department of Education is dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the community and schools we support by treating everyone with respect and dignity. This starts with recruitment and selection. The methods of assessing suitability in the recruitment process may vary. This includes making reasonable adjustments to support applicants at all stages of the process and employee lifecycle.

About Mount Fox State School

Mount Fox State School is a small remote school approximately 1 hours' drive from Ingham. We are the central hub of an isolated but united community. It is a picturesque, one teacher school, with fantastic staff and enthusiastic students.

We are an active member of the Ingham cluster of small schools. Our principal participates in the North Queensland professional learning community with other small school principals. Although Mount Fox State School is in a remote location, the students are still involved in interschool sporting, educational and cultural activities throughout the year. Our remote location is not seen as a barrier to active participation and involvement in extracurricular activities.

Our school employs a number of professional support staff (teacher-aides) to work with the students on their targeted learning needs. This high teacher-student ratio enables our school to differentiate student learning to the needs of the individual students and set individual student learning targets.
