About Abercorn State School
Abercorn State School is a small country school situated between Eidsvold and Monto in the North Burnett region. It is near Wuruma Dam, which is a popular fishing and camping area for tourists. A majority of our students are from rural properties surrounding Abercorn. They enjoy mustering cattle, riding horses or motorbikes, helping their parents with the farm machinery, pig hunting and rearing poddy calves.
Abercorn students enjoy sports and are keen to represent the Monto Cluster of schools in North Burnett netball, cricket, rugby league and softball. Each year the school hosts 'The Goodwill Games' athletics carnival, with school students coming from other small schools across the North Burnett to compete with a spirit of goodwill. Our older students are very caring and helpful towards their younger peers both in and out of the classroom. Abercorn is a friendly, family-oriented community with a very supportive and active P&C Association.
