About the Opportunity

This is your opportunity to bring your strategic communication skills to the table and provide support with the preparation of sensitive and confidential correspondence, Cabinet, Parliamentary and briefing notes within the Office of the Assistant Director-General, Infrastructure Delivery Operations.

About the Role

The Principal Communications Officer will have responsibility for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Provide leadership and guidance across Infrastructure Delivery Operations regarding executive correspondence, briefing and supporting materials, and foster a work environment with a strong team focus that encourages commitment, professional growth and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and prepare incoming correspondence, Cabinet, Parliamentary and briefing documents, in accordance with the department's Style Guide and Ministerial and Executive Services Guidelines.
  • Utilise effective time management practices and monitor, analyse and evaluate activities and work practices for the unit/division.
  • Establish and maintain effective liaison, communication and collaboration processes across the division, department and government agencies.

Specifically, we are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level strategic advice on Executive Government processes, including Cabinet, Ministerial and Parliamentary functions, legislation development processes applicable to the role of the department and the legislation and policies it administers.
  • Significant record of highly developed leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to build and sustain professional relationships with a network of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to respond and successfully deliver outcomes in a high-pressure environment including consistently delivering timely and quality executive support in a high pressure, confidential and high-volume environment.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with ability to prepare briefings and submissions, and to consult and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues.
