About the Role

Responsibilities include;

  • Work with the Office of the Deputy Director-General to provide support and coordination of cross agency meetings and events, within set timeframes.
  • Work with offices of Government Champions and networks to coordinate requests for briefings, compile reports on activities and provide advice to the Minister, Director-General, and Deputy Director-General.
  • Support the Deputy Director-General First Nation Strategy & Partnerships and the First Nation Strategy & Partnerships executive management team by providing high-level strategic advice in relation to departmental and divisional matters.
  • Work with the Office of the Deputy Director-General First Nation Strategy & Partnerships to prepare and review correspondence items including complex briefing notes, Ministerial submissions, reports and other correspondence in accordance with departmental standards and within set timeframes.
  • Consult with key Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, prescribed body corporates key community stakeholder and departmental officers and brief the Deputy Director-General, both orally and in writing, as the occasion demands, on emergent and critical issues that may require sensitive management and immediate attention.
  • Research, analyse and prepare briefs on complex reports and submissions in order to interpret and render advice on their technical aspects for the Deputy Director-General's consideration.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports, recommendations, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence on behalf of the Deputy Director-General.
  • Coordinate the flow of correspondence through the division, including distribution, receipting and tracking, to ensure the requests are completed accurately and within set deadlines.
  • Travel to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities will be required. This may involve travel outside normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation.

Mandatory Requirements for and Identified Role:
