Your Role
As part of our commitment to ensuring that all students share in the legacy of the Games', you will play a pivotal role in consulting and advising on strategies and actions that are needed to increase student participation in school sport, particularly among women and girls, people with a disability, people living in rural and remote areas, and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
As the Principal Advisor you will:
- Identify emerging policy issues affecting the department's contribution to objectives of the elevate 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games Legacy Strategy, and provide high level advice to the department and government on opportunities, issues and risks.
- Lead significant policy projects to develop long-term, education focussed policies and strategies to help ensure that all children and young people share in the legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage complex policy projects to ensure the strategic goals and objectives of the department and the government are achieved, including conducting policy analysis, research, development and evaluation of policy options and preparation of policy advice.
- Prepare submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence including responses to, and development of, Cabinet Submissions and policy advice for the Minister, the Director-General and Senior Executives within the department.
- Work closely with other departments and agencies to ensure coordination and alignment of policies across government.
- Monitor emergent educational, economic or social issues impacting children and young people's participation in school sport, identify opportunities, anticipate risks and issues, and provide evidence informed, strategic advice to Senior Executives within the department.
- Develop, maintain and foster effective networks, consultation and liaison between the division, other program areas, other government departments, industry bodies and other key stakeholders and partners in support of the department's strategic agenda.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Senior Policy Officer within the team, ensuring a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Advise on the implementation and monitoring of policies to ensure they are effective and meet their intended outcomes.
- Promote strong policy and service delivery connections and foster strong collaborative partnerships across regions and across all schooling sectors.
- Undertake other duties as required to enable Division objectives to be achieved.
