Are you passionate about supporting young children with additional needs and helping them develop, learn, and thrive?

We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive Primary SEN school in Lambeth. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, nurturing, and experienced in supporting children with complex and varied needs in a specialist setting.

About the Role

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and therapists to support pupils across the primary age range. You will help create a structured, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child is supported to reach their individual potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with a wide range of SEN
  • Support children with needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and learning disabilities
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored lessons, sensory activities, and personalised learning programmes
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe, calm, and engaging classroom environment
  • Assist with personal care where required, in line with school policies
  • Prepare learning resources and contribute to EHCP targets and classroom planning
  • Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is essential
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting young learners
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt support to individual needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
