1:1 Teaching Assistant Needed - Primary School

We are currently working with a supportive primary school that is seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated support to a child with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone patient, compassionate, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role:

You will be providing one-to-one support for a child who requires additional help to engage fully with school life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support during lessons, group activities, and transitions
  • Assisting with communication, emotional regulation, and behaviour
  • Helping to implement personalised learning strategies set by the class teacher and SENCO
  • Supporting the child's social skills, confidence, and independence
  • Maintaining clear communication with staff, parents, and outside professionals

    • Depending on the child's needs, the role may also include elements of personal care.

    Who We're Looking For:

  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs in a primary school
  • Ability to build a trusting, positive relationship with children
  • Calm, caring, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow support plans effectively

    • Bonus If You Have:

  • Experience working 1:1 with children with communication or behavioural needs
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies and intervention methods
  • A current enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
