About the Preparatory School Deputy – Primary

We are seeking an innovative, progressive, resilient and empathetic educator who demonstrates expertise in driving curriculum and pedagogical development and motivates others to share their passion for lifelong learning and continuous improvement. Your new role will see you collaborate with the Preparatory School management team, mentor and coach classroom teachers and support the Principal and Head of Preparatory School in delivering the School’s strategic plan ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students.
 

The key responsibilities will see you:

  • Leading the curriculum ensuring staff incorporate the essential knowledge, skills and understanding of the Australian curriculum into the teaching and learning programs, differentiating as needed
  • Coach and mentor staff in progressive and constructive pedagogy, whilst modelling this yourself
  • Monitor student progress using selected tools and strategies, providing feedback to teachers
  • Collaborate with the other Deputies, Head of Preparatory School and Director of Learning to oversee curriculum development, reporting procedures, and the academic program
  • Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • Manage and lead teaching staff in Transition to Year 2
  • Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Junior Primary classes, prepare budget submissions and allocate resources, develop procedures and handbooks
  • Undertake a range of teaching and leadership tasks as determined by the Head of the Preparatory School
  • Be involved in the life of the School

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role
  • Proven expertise in driving curriculum and pedagogical development, particularly in the coaching and mentoring of staff.
  • Demonstrated passion for, and experience in, teaching in the Junior Primary years
  • Innovative and exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes
  • High level of ICT skills, knowledge and effective incorporation into classroom practice
  • The capacity to cater for students with a range of abilities and learning styles within the classroom and to monitor, and respond to, student progress
  • Regular and up to date professional knowledge and learning
  • Involvement at relevant professional organisations.
  • Registration as a Teacher in South Australia (or ability to obtain)
