Our education recruitment agency is delighted to be partnering with a well-regarded secondary school in Erith to recruit an experienced and dedicated Premises Manager for a September 2026 start.

This is an excellent opportunity for a facilities or site management professional to join a successful school and play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-presented learning environment for students and staff.

The Role

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the overall management of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and that all health and safety requirements are met.

Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage contractors and maintenance schedules, and lead premises staff to ensure the smooth running of the school estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Ensure the site remains safe, secure, and compliant with all relevant regulations.
  • Manage site security, including opening and closing procedures where required.
  • Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and statutory inspections.
  • Supervise premises and cleaning staff.
  • Liaise with contractors and monitor the quality of external works.
  • Maintain health and safety records and compliance documentation.
  • Support school events and operational requirements throughout the academic year.
  • Manage premises-related budgets and procurement processes.
  • Person Specification

    We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in premises, facilities, estates, or site management.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to site issues.
  • Experience managing contractors and service providers.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience within a school or educational setting is desirable but not essential.
