Veritas Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) at a specialist SEN school in Romford & Waltham Forest

This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with complex learning needs, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and achieve their individual outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Support pupils with personal care, feeding, toileting, and mobility where required.
  • Assist with sensory-based learning activities and communication programmes.
  • Support the use of communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, or visual supports.
  • Promote independence, engagement, and wellbeing throughout the school day.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to support pupil progress.
  • Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

    • Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or adults with SEN, PMLD, complex needs, or disabilities.
  • Comfortable providing personal care and physical support where required.
  • Patient, resilient, and nurturing approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in a school, care, residential, or support setting is desirable.
  • Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
