About the Department:

The Department of Education employs over 120 physiotherapists to support students to be successful in all aspects of their learning. We use our knowledge and skills to enable students to be healthy and successful across the full school experience.  From positioning in the classroom, to school swimming or going on camp, our physiotherapists are a key member of a student's educational team.

As part of the Central Queensland Region service, the Emerald team supports schools within Emerald and westward to the Queensland border, using both telepractice and in person service to deliver equity and excellence. The position is based within a multidisciplinary team of health professionals and education advisors.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Forming strategic partnerships with schools, allied health professionals and families.
  • Identify, assess and implement physiotherapy services relevant to the education setting.
  • Providing a consultative service to student's teachers, parents and wider team members.
  • Participate in specialised projects and share practices and resources with other physiotherapists within the department.
  • Travel is a requirement of the role and including day trips and overnight.
